Hello,
I'm thinking about developing a supercomputer with such features:
- 64 bit epiphany
- maximal expandable
- finest possible technology
- I think the speed of the board2board connection couldn't be very faster
And I have some questions about:
- is it meaningful making a parallela processor with 64-bit, max. amount of cores and only one channel in each 4 directions to a next processor ?
- what could be the problems of such a design ?
- are there any other issues ?
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Have a look what these guys are doing: . Their web site has not changed in a while so i don't know if they are still active.

Hello,
what version of Epiphany could be interesting for Parallella users/community to produce ?
- 64-bit
- maximal expandable (Ids)
…

One Idea is to simulate a neural network in hardware.
So the main features here is, to have:
- small core for just a little calculation
- maximum amount of cores
- fast connections
- less bottlenecks in connection
…

Are you thinking of designing a supercomputer or are you just listing features? Do you realize that some of the features you mention contradict each other?

Hi Stefan,
I posted the link in case you were not aware of the work being done by Rex. If you want to put the time into looking at a "64-bit Epiphany" it would be tragic to put in all that effort and end up with something pretty much like what Rex is doing. If you had a look at Rex's design decisions and chose to explore alternative possibilities then the whole community could benefit from evaluating your design compared to Rex's compared to Adapteva's.

Hello all,
thanks for replies.
Do anyone have additional comments ?
What could be interesting ?
What could be problems ?
