1024 core on 2014: still valid roadmap?

A road-map is a best estimate at the time, not a promise. You should know that. The ONLY reason we didn't build the 1024 core chip until now is that we couldn't find a customer/investor to sponsor the (~$5M).
It's not a technology issue! If there was a big commercial market for such a chip it would have happened already...(~100 people buying one chip each doesn't count as a market)

Sorry to know noone invest on the project: unfortunately us passionate people are always short-of-money and cannot be investors and nomoney=nochip. I always loved the idea of massive multicore architecture and i wait/bet/hope in these last years on parallela. Unfortunately till now and apparently in near future, i will not see realized my wish. Nevertheless i still hope for future revolution 1204-cores but in meantime i must go with fpga.
