Model with the large heatsink?

Postby Zorael » Sun May 28, 2017 10:20 am

I have several Kickstarter-era Parallella boards but the need for a fan is sadly a dealbreaker.

Is the current Parallella Desktop (P1601) model the one with the large, passive heatsink? I'm having trouble finding concrete answers. The question is asked on Amazon and the answer is just that it "may not be".

Hi,

I think they key date was July 10th 2014 - purchasing a board after then you get the large heatsink (as per http://www.parallella.org/install-the-heatsink/ ) In terms of requiring a fan, I have found the case at https://groundelectronics.com/products/ ... ooling-kit to be very convenient as the fan is powered by the board and-so self contained (the blue case Adapteva have manufactured is also excellent, but this doesn't have a fan in it.)

Cheers,
Nick
