Keep in mind, a TrueNorth core is 256 axons and 256 spiking neurons. Coincidentally, Epiphany and TrueNorth are similar in that they are low power, 2D NoCs, tileable, and the core building blocks in silicon are approximately the same die size on the same tech node. Short of that, Epiphany and TrueNorth are completely different. It doesn't perform floating point calculations. It's very restrictive to specific tasks. There are no 'instructions", rather a network configuration. It runs at 1000 Hz. It's unlike any core you've ever used. The neuron model is biologically-inspired, not "based off the human brain". It's still interesting, but there's a lot of hype...
