A consideration when compiling Ubuntu..

not to start a flame-war, but truth is that most people, including myself, don't care being spied on through search-engines. now if ubuntu would steal all recordings from my microphone, my webcam and everything I ever typed, that would be really bad. that being said, I use gentoo because I realized that regardless of all the money ubuntu has available it still is an os that requires editing text-files for configuration and inconveniently requires direct command-line interaction for most stuff. so in terms of convenience, I really see no convenience-advantage in using ubuntu over using gentoo. to me both distros and also windows are all equally convenient. only difference is that with gentoo it's easier to add patches to programs, patches downloaded on the net or created myself, for personal use...
