Just got the 64-core parallella

Dear Parallella Community,

We just received the 64-core co-processor with an additional SD Card. Does this card contain a 64-core-specific kernel, or only an update OS? Is there any reason that I should switch out the SD cards when switching out the co-processors?

Tom,

The SD card that you received contains the updated eSDK, not yet officially released for download, to work with the E64 systems.

The differences are really minor, but they are there. Your best starting point will be to examine the matmul-64 example that was provided in the work/ directory. Note the major difference is the change from the e-host library to epiphany-hal library that serve as the hardware driver. This change, in turn, required the rebuild of the loader library and the gdb-server.

The stretch Kickstarter goal was meant for the production Parallella-64. This thread is regarding the prototype systems containing E64 FMC daughtercards.

Slight correction to Yaniv's post. There WILL be real credit card sized Parallella 64-core boards shipped to 57 backers who pledged at some of the higher reward level.(starting at $750). The $3M stretch goal referred to getting the 64-core board price point down to the $199 pricing.

the photo shows only one quarter of the PCB is taken a chip. Does that mean the prototype can have 2x2 configuration?

Yes, Bittware has been offering commercial FMC boards with 2x2 Epiphany-III chip configurations for a while now.
